Oxford Street Redevelopment

The Chamber is working along side Hornsby Council in the redevelopment of Oxford Street on the north side of Epping. The renovations will include alfresco dinning for restaurants as well as a level street for safer traffic flow and easier parking.

Epping Chamber Executives met with Hornsby Council on site on 22 June 2010 to discuss the progress of the Oxford Street Beautification Project. The Chamber had been trying for some time to secure a program to assist the Oxford Street Members coordinate themselves around the works. Council are unable to offer a program but have nominated the following milestones:

  • Parking closed on Eastside July 2010
  • Open parking Westside - July 2010 (no parking for approximately 3 weeks on either side)
  • Eastside completion and roadway sealed - October 2010
  • Westside work will be completed in July 2010.

There is a time in July when there will be no parking at the southern end of Oxford Street. The Chamber has asked council to try and program the majority of this inconvenience for the July school holidays when the traffic is somewhat lighter.

The Chamber is still concerned with the unavailability of parking spots for the customers of members in Oxford Street. Council have agreed that they will reclaim 25 spots at the southern end of Cambridge Street from all day parking and resign it to be 2 hour parking for customer parking. Council are reluctant to change any other parking in the vicinity as they believe the current mix of times is appropriate to the area.
